Kewatinok Community Centre in Fort Chipewyan, the Wellness Centre in Fort MacKay, and the Anzac Community Hall offer the Summer Reading Incentive Program within their own community programs for children. The Summer Reading Incentive Program runs for the months of July and August.

The Summer Reading Incentive Program was designed to encourage children to continue reading through the summer months. Reading through the school break has been proven to maintain and even improve reading levels, making the transition into a higher grade that much easier in the fall. Children are encouraged to read just 15 minutes a day. Once they have accumulated 90 minutes of reading in one week, they are able to enter a draw for weekly prizes. All children who participate will have their name entered to win a grand prize at the end of the program.
